U.S. Consulate General tasks new MWF on life impacting issues

U.S. Consul General, Will Stevens, has tasked new Mandela Washington Fellows (MWFs) to continue working on critical issues that will impact lives of fellow Nigerians, which include: promoting entrepreneurship and education, supporting democratic governance, as well as building a strong civil society.

Stevens gave the task at the reunion conference and welcome reception for the 2022 MWFs selected to participate in a six-week leadership programme studying Business, Civic Engagement or Public Management at U.S. colleges and universities, which was organised by the U.S. mission in Nigeria.

“As the new fellows take their place as part of the Young African Leaders initiative (YALI) generation, we look forward to learning about their inspiring work in Nigeria, and efforts to solving climate crises, as well as building sustainable and inclusive global economy that will shape Nigeria’s future,” Stevens said.

Delivering his remarks at the reception held in Lagos, Stevens stated that Africa’s future rests in the hands of extraordinary young African leaders, who are committed to pursuing and achieving their dreams.
