If you heard Seyi Makinde of late, you would wonder if the Oyo State governor is on a dissipating journey to be president. He said recently that once he is done as governor, he would be ready for chieftaincy titles and other forms of accolade. So, this man knows his quest to be Nigeria’s number 1 is a soap bubble of a dream, a waste of the people’s time.

Rather than canvass for votes, he is campaigning to be a chief from one community to the other. His neck will bow for beads and his feet for ritual dances. Not the Aso Rock ceremony at the stadium. He would not be an Aso Rock resident. Makinde is looking to be a palace tourist. Not for him, it seems, is the high perch of president. He craves the embrace of kings and obas.
