TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR SERVICE YEAR TO ADD VALUE TO YOURSELF – DG, NYSC urges Corps Members in Bayelsa

Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Y.D. Ahmed has commended Corps members in Bayelsa State for their discipline and support during orientation, urging them to maximize their time in the scheme to add value to themselves.

Brig. Gen. Y.D.Ahmed, who made this known during an official visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Boro Town, emphasized that the National Youth Service Corps programme aims to shape youths into nation builders and give them a platform to contribute to the nation’s development.

Brig. Gen. Y.D.Ahmed, who was represented during the visit by the the NYSC Director of Ventures, Prince Momoh Mohammed, highlighted the value of skills, knowledge, and independence that can be gained in participating in the service year faithfully.

He also stressed that the NYSC scheme provides a unique opportunity for personal growth and development and urged the corps members not to waste this experience, enjoining them to invest their time in learning and upgrading their skills and knowledge, “Make the most of this year. For those who haven’t fully utilized this scheme, I encourage you to embrace learning and skill development,”.

He also encouraged the corps members to embrace their place of primary assignment and make the best of it and highlighted the benefits of adapting to new environments and building resilience.

He urged them to embrace the opportunities and challenges that come with the scheme and develop a positive mindset and seize the chance to add value themselves.

Earlier, the State Coordinator, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity welcomed the Director to the camp and gave a situation report stressing the synergy between camp officials and the high level of discipline exhibited by the corps members.

She informed the Director that the full orientation course content is fully implemented according to the policy guidelines.
