The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos chapter, has adopted a bylaw to strengthen its institutional framework, accountability and sustainable youth development.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos chapter, has adopted a bylaw to strengthen its institutional framework, accountability and sustainable youth development.
The NYCN also pledged to engage and mobilise Lagos youths to participate in large numbers in the 2027 general elections.
The council’s spokesman, Victor Adogbajale, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, following the NYCN 2026 annual congress at Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area.
He said that the congress, led by the state chairman, Ibrahim Adigun, attracted delegates from the 57 local government and local council development areas, alongside representatives of affiliated voluntary youth organisations and community-based organisations across the state.
Mr Adigun said Adewole Saliu, chairman of the Bylaw Drafting and Review Committee, presented the document to the state executives and hundreds of delegates.
He said other committee members included the state secretary, Gbemisola Adeniyi; serving and immediate past legal advisers of NYCN Lagos; representatives of local branches, VYOs and CBOs; and vice-chairmen representing the three senatorial districts.
According to him, after delegates presented and thoroughly reviewed it, Moshood Shittu, coordinator of the Egbe-Idimu Local Branch, moved a motion to adopt the document. It was seconded by Azeez Asiwaju of the Nigeria Aid Group, after which the bye-law was adopted by the congress.
He said the development attracted applause from delegates, who commended the Adigun-led administration for recording another significant achievement.
Speaking, Mr Saliu said the bye-law was developed after extensive consultations with stakeholders in the youth sector and in line with the NYCN national constitution.
He said the document would strengthen the council’s institutional framework, promote accountability, clarify operational procedures and enhance its efficiency in advancing youth development across Lagos.
Mr Adigun described the adoption of the bylaw as a defining step towards building a more structured, inclusive and sustainable youth institution in Lagos. He said the document would provide a common institutional framework for accommodating the diverse interests and aspirations of young people across the state.
Mr Adigun emphasised that the bye-law was not merely an administrative document but a long-term institutional framework designed to transcend individual leadership tenures.
