NLO U-19 Youth League: Bayelsa Starlets Lose to Bayelsa United Feeders

Bayelsa Starlets Academy of Yenagoa, affiliated to FC Barcelona on Tuesday, August 18, suffered a 3-1 defeat in the hands of Bayelsa United Feeders in the Matchday 2 fixture of the ongoing Nationwide League One U-19 Youth League decided at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.
Ibomo Kenus put Feeders ahead seven minutes into the game from a beautiful finish. Kenus doubled the lead for United Feeders on 23 minutes from a well-delivered cross.
Despite the scoreline, Starlets did not relent in their push for the equalizer but United Feeders’ defenders Pina and Prince would not allow Starlets attacking duo of Christopher James and Micah Kilete to breach their defence despite controlling the game.
In the second half, Bayelsa Starlets showed intent of coming back with the introduction of Ibuama Tengi and Simple Wisdom who brought stability in the midfield but the Starlets’ efforts were cut short several times by Feeders goalkeeper, Akpos Emmanuel.
Olaowei Igbongidi on 56 minutes made it 3-0 from Godbless Ayeke’s beautiful pass. Starlets however reduced the deficit from a Christopher James’ 81 minute well-delivered volley but the team could not stage a late comeback.
The victory leaves Bayelsa United Feeders top of the Yenagoa centre with the maximum six points from two games, Starlets on three points, will next face Obago FC on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 12.00 noon just as Bayelsa United Feeders welcome Uchenna Kanu FA at 10.00am at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
Bayelsa Starlets Academy coach, Freeborn Onome in his post-match reaction, asserted that the boys gave their best in spite of the defeat, pointing out that the team was now focused on winning their next tie.
Bayelsa United Feeders coach, Dimie Ineididie hailed the lads for their show of determination throughout the encounter, maintaining that their priority is to top the group at the end of the tournament.
