Anyanwu Berates Imo Govt Over Explosion in Ohaji

...Commiserates with Obitti Community, Affected Families

Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the November 11 election and National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has accused the APC led government in Imo state of negligence leading to the unfortunate-but avoidable bloody explosion in Obitti community, Ohaji Egbema local government area of the state.

Expressing anger, Anyanwu notes that Imo APC government’s action to shy away from protecting oil pipe lines, unemployment level, insecurity, state’s financial status and Uzodinma’s lackadaisical attitude towards the well-being of the citizens ostensibly offered oil thieves this undue privilege to cause havoc in Obitti community where over five persons were reportedly feared killed.

While commiserating with affected families of this terrible incident and the people of Ohaji Egbema in general, Anyanwu therefore challenges the state government to sit up to its duties to be able to forestall future occurrences instead of abandoning its constitutional responsibilities for overseas trip.

“This administration in our state is ill-prepared and non proactive. It is on the record that since it came on board, there has been wide outcry, disenchantment, poverty, starvation and insecurity in virtually every parts of the state. While Imo people barely struggled to escape from these challenges, it would be improper for the same government to allow oil thieves to continue to create pandemonium in the oil rich communities in Ohaji Egbema, Oguta and its environs where lives and properties are consumed”

Anyanwu, an erstwhile Senate Committee Chairman on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions further decries the rate of negative stories involving Imo state since the inception of Uzodinma’s led APC administration in the state, the PDP National Secretary also charges security agencies to do their best to nip this ugly trend in the bud.

Anyanwu, while expressing concern over the continued loss of lives and properties in the state, urges Imo youths to be law abiding and shun crime in its entirety. Also, he enjoins traditional Rulers in the state to take charge of their respective environment by setting up viable vigilante outfits that will monitor movements of strange persons within their domains.
