Hundreds of people kidnapped by Boko Haram freed in Nigeria

The people, many of whom were women and children, had been abducted from a village in Borno State in northeastern Nigeria.According to a non-profit organization, a total of 416 people were freed on Saturday. The Nigerian military said in a statement that 360 of those kidnapped were freed through an “intelligence-led rescue operation.”

Mass kidnappings are recurring in Nigeria, and for criminal and armed groups, it can be a way to obtain significant ransoms.
