Bayelsa LP reschedules State, National Assembly primaries

The Bayelsa State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of its decision to reschedule its State and National Assembly primaries to May 30, 2026.
The party said the rescheduled primaries will be conducted using the consensus system across all constituencies and senatorial districts in the state.
In a letter dated May 21, 2026, and signed by the State Chairman, Eneyi Zidoughan, and State Secretary, Talbot Jonnie, the party explained that the earlier dates of May 27 to 29, 2026, were affected by the review of the electoral timetable and the Eid-el-Kabir (Salah) public holiday.
The letter conveying the decision was addressed to the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC).
