At the 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party, presided over by Tanimu Turaki, party leaders and stakeholders convened to deliberate on the party’s future following its decision to appeal the judgment of the Court of Appeal at the Supreme Court.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ engagement session, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Fred Agbedi, Ph.D, who represents Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency and serves as Leader of the PDP Caucus in the House of Representatives, expressed deep concern over the declining strength of the party in the National Assembly.

He revealed that PDP membership in the House of Representatives has dwindled significantly, noting that only about 30 members remain. Despite this reduction, Agbedi emphasised that the remaining lawmakers are steadfast and committed to the party’s direction.

According to him, the caucus is united in its resolve to abide by whatever decisions the party leadership takes, stressing that they are prepared to follow the party through its current challenges and eventual recovery.

Encouraging party members, Agbedi noted that enduring success often comes through difficult trials. He urged members to remain resilient and determined, adding that only those who stay strong in challenging times will prevail.

In his remarks, he also criticised the administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of failing to meet the expectations of Nigerians. He reaffirmed his commitment to standing with the people and defending their interests.

Agbedi concluded by calling on party faithful to mobilise and intensify efforts to reclaim political ground, urging them to confront the APC decisively in future political contests.

He maintained that with unity, strength, and determination, the PDP can overcome its current setbacks and reposition itself as a formidable force in Nigeria’s political landscape
