Feb 14: Agbedi Hails Gov. Douye Diri’s Leadership, Says Bayelsa Has Entered Era of Peace, Growth

Rt. Hon. (Chief) Frederick Yeitiemone Agbedi, Ph.D., Member representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on Special Duties, has described February 14 as a symbolic day of gratitude and shared goodwill for the people of Bayelsa State.
The federal lawmaker noted that while the date is globally recognized as a celebration of love and compassion, it holds a deeper significance for Bayelsans as a reminder of the emergence of purposeful leadership that has redefined governance in the state.
According to Rt. Hon. Agbedi, February 14 represents the dawn of a new era marked by peace, stability, and inclusive development under the leadership of Governor Douye Diri.
He stated that the Governor’s assumption of office signaled a decisive turning point in Bayelsa’s history, ushering in a governance approach anchored on unity, fairness, and measurable progress across critical sectors.
Rt. Hon. Agbedi emphasized that the administration’s commitment to peacebuilding created the enabling environment for sustainable growth and equitable distribution of development projects throughout the state.
He commended the Governor’s strategic interventions in infrastructure development, noting that improved connectivity continues to open new economic opportunities for communities across Bayelsa.
The lawmaker also acknowledged advancements in the education sector, highlighting investments aimed at strengthening learning environments and enhancing human capital development.
In the area of healthcare, he observed that deliberate policies and initiatives have improved access to quality medical services for citizens across the state.
Rt. Hon. Agbedi further applauded efforts made toward enhancing workers’ welfare, ensuring timely payment of salaries, and strengthening pension administration systems.
He noted that employment generation initiatives have empowered youths and contributed to social stability and economic resilience.
The federal lawmaker pointed to several landmark projects that have reshaped the developmental landscape of Bayelsa, including the nearing completion of the Gas Turbine project.
He also cited the Nembe–Brass Road, the Southern Ijaw/Oporoma Road, the Sagbama–Ekeremor Road, and the ongoing Agge Road project as critical infrastructure advancing mobility and integration.
In addition, he referenced the construction of the new Secretariat Complex and the ongoing development of an international-standard stadium as symbols of forward-looking governance.
Rt. Hon. Agbedi described these projects as enduring legacies of visionary leadership that will remain etched in the collective memory of the people.
He urged Bayelsans to sustain their support for the present administration, stressing that lasting development thrives in an atmosphere of unity and shared responsibility.
