From Brussels to Trofani: Agbedi, Bayelsa First Lady Lead Dignitaries to Honour Late Dame Zikama Pighi
Rt. Hon. Fred Agbedi, Member representing the Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency, on Saturday joined Her Excellency, Dr. Gloria Diri, First Lady of Bayelsa State, and other eminent personalities to pay final respects to the late Dame Zikama Pighi, who was laid to rest in her hometown of Trofani Community, Sagbama Local Government Area.
Fresh from an international summit in Brussels, Belgium, Rt. Hon. Agbedi made a swift return to Bayelsa State to identify with the bereaved family and the Trofani community, a gesture that underscored his deep sense of responsibility, compassion, and solidarity. Dame Zikama Pighi passed on at the age of 86, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of faith, discipline, and selfless service.
The late matriarch was celebrated for raising children who have distinguished themselves in public service, including Mr. Victor Peremobowei Isicheli, Head of Protocol at the Government House, and Mrs. Ebi Ekpebu, Head of Protocol at the Lagos Liaison Office. Their exemplary careers attracted dignitaries from across Bayelsa State and beyond, all gathered to honour the life and values of their revered mother.
In her tribute, Her Excellency, Dr. Gloria Diri, encouraged the children and mourners to uphold the enduring virtues exemplified by Dame Zikama Pighi, particularly her unwavering faith and commitment to cleanliness. She emphasized the timeless principle that “cleanliness is next to godliness,” describing it as a value worthy of preservation across generations.
The solemn burial ceremony was attended by several notable personalities, including Hon. Ebizi Brown, Member representing Sagbama Constituency III in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
