“Let me first of all appreciate the wonderful people of Rivers State. I’m really humbled by what I saw at the airport. I was briefed on some photographs of what happened here yesterday. That reception really humbled me,” he said.
“It showed love, confidence and solidarity. I want to say that it is not just the celebration, the massive reception by the number of people who came out to celebrate, but the display and reaffirmation of the bond between this government and the people that we are serving.”
Reassuring the people, Fubara continued, “I want to assure you that we will by the grace of God, continue to do those things that have made you people love us. I want to appreciate everyone and to say that we love you but God loves you more.”

“We are going to address the state officially by 6pm and in that broadcast, we will appreciate everyone that brought normalcy to this state,” he stated.
Fubara was reinstated as the governor of Rivers State on Wednesday after Bola Tinubu’s unpopular and controversial emergency rule which was declared in March.
Governor Fubara, on Friday returned to the Government House in Port Harcourt after being away for six months following the controversial suspension of his administration.
Videos and photos circulating on social media showed jubilant crowds thronging the Brick House, the official seat of power in Rivers, to welcome the governor back.
“His Excellency Governor Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS arrives The Brick House (Rivers State Government House), Port Harcourt,” wrote a news platform in the state.
“Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, arrived at the Port Harcourt International Airport at about 12:19 pm on Friday and was greeted by a crowd of supporters who had earlier converged at the VIP wing of the Port Harcourt International Airport, awaiting his arrival,” further report stated.
Fubara’s comeback marks a new chapter in the lingering political crisis that has rocked Rivers State since his fallout with his predecessor and political godfather, Nyesom Wike and the shocking suspension of his government by President Bola Tinubu.
President Tinubu on Wednesday announced the end of the state of emergency rule in Rivers State, effective midnight on September 17, 2025.
The state of emergency was declared on March 18, 2025, due to a constitutional impasse between the Governor and the House of Assembly, which had brought governance to a standstill.
