BAYELSA UNITED RISKS NPFL BAN OVER POUBENI OGUN CLAIM’S AGAINST COUNSEL FOR NEMBE CITY CHIEF RUMSON VICTOR BARIBOTE ESQ.

Bayelsa United football club of Yenagoa may face risks of being ban from the Nigeria Premier Football League following a suit filled by the Chairman of the Bayelsa State Football Association, Barrister Poubeni Ogun against the President and Counsel of Nembe City football club, Chief Rumson Baribote Esq.

The embattled FA chairman, Poubeni Ogun had approached the State High Court in Yenagoa with claims that he loaned the sum of three million naira to the President and Counsel for Nembe City, Chief Rumson Victor Baribote Esq, out of the total amount paid by Bayelsa United to Nembe City as out of Court settlement of accumulated fees of players transfer.

This legal action instituted by Barrister Poubeni Ogun indicates that Bayelsa United is still indebted to Nembe City Management, a development that might compel Nembe City to returns to the Federal High Court, Yenagoa that entertained the matter before it was settled out of court last year.

Investigation into the matters reveals that Poubeni Ogun filed the case after the President and Counsel for Nembe City football club, Chief Rumson Baribote Esq. representing Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria.

( PFAN) and others got an Order restraining Poubeni Ogun led State Football Association Board purportedly elected from functioning as the State Football Association Board following a suit seeking total cancellation of last year’s Bayelsa FA elections held in June, 2023 particularly for alleged exclusion and non compliance with the NFF Statutes and Electoral Code .

However, at Monday’s Court hearing at the State High Court 12 sitting in Yenagoa, counsel for the claimant, Barr. Poubeni Ogun only relied on a transfer transaction from NUN Micro finance bank showing a transfer to Nembe City through its Counsel Chief Rumson Baribote Esq.

During the sitting presided over by Justice Duke, lead counsel for the defendant Barrister Tekenah Ediyekio argued that Barr. Poubeni claim is frivolous and lacks merit and same should be dismissed.

Our Judicial correspondent reports that the case has been adjourned to Monday 16th of April, 2024 for adoption of written address.
