Israel comments on Cairo Peace Summit
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement commenting on the “Cairo Peace Summit” held in Egypt on Saturday.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry said in its statement: “Saturday, October 7, was a wake-up call to the world for us to unite and fight terrorism together.”
“The threat of Islamic terrorism not only exposes Israel to danger, but also threatens countries in the region and the entire world,” it reads.
The statement added that it is “a shame that even in the face of these heinous crimes, there are those who find it difficult to condemn terrorism and acknowledge its danger.”
“Israel will do what it is assigned to do, and wait for the international community to recognize its just struggle against terrorism.”
After the end of the Cairo Summit for Peace, the Egyptian presidency issued a statement explaining that Egypt was looking forward for participants “To launch a global call for peace in which they agree on the importance of re-evaluating the pattern of the international handling of the Palestinian issue over the past decades.”
The Gaza Strip has been subjected to Israeli land, sea and air bombardment since Hamas and other Palestinian factions launched operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” on October 7.
The “Al-Aqsa Flood” was met with the Israeli “Iron Swords” operation, as the Israeli army launched raids on Gaza Strip, which is inhabited by more than two million Palestinians who suffer from deteriorating living conditions, as a result of an ongoing Israeli siege since 2006.
The death toll from the Israeli bombing amounted to about 4,475 dead and more than 14,000 wounded in the Gaza Strip.
On the Israeli side, more than 1,400 people were killed, including 306 officers and soldiers, while Hamas captured more than 200 Israelis.
