Saudi Crown Prince plans trip to Turkey, Cyprus, Greece, Jordan and Egypt

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is planning a trip to Turkey, Cyprus, Greece, Jordan and Egypt. During the tour, he will discuss regional and international issues and sign agreements in the field of energy and trade, Reuters reports citing sources.

This will be the prince’s first trip outside the region since the 2018 assassination of prominent Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. He attended the G20 Japan Summit in 2019.

Saudi officials are still discussing the exact dates of the visit with the countries the crown prince will visit, the sources said. The trip can take place as early as June.

One of the sources, a senior Turkish official, said that Prince Mohammed had accepted President Tayyip Erdogan’s invitation to visit the country and the two sides were working on organizing the visit.

The topics for discussion are bilateral trade, regional developments, a possible currency swap deal and other investment and energy projects, the official said.
