Ukrainian volunteer fighters
As the Russia-Ukraine conflict continues to its fourth day, thousands of Ukrainians, including Members of Parliament, are reportedly volunteering to fight to defend their country against Russia’s invasion.
These volunteers are mainly ordinary citizens and politicians who had no prior military training.
The volunteer fighters are marked out with yellow arm band to distinguish them from the military.
More than 100 members of the Ukrainian parliament have taken up arms and joined different territorial defence units, the British Broadcasting Corporation reports.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian government has banned men between 18 and 60 years from fleeing the country, urging them to join the fight to defend their country.
The BBC reported that 25,000 weapons have been handed out to territorial defence members by the Ukrainian defence ministry in the Kyiv region alone.
