DR. MRS KEHINDE AJAYI AT 60: A DISTINGUISHED CAREER OF 35 YEARS IN JOURNALISM AND PUBLIC RELATIONS

By Ohis Asein
It is a remarkable coincidence that Dr. Mrs. Kehinde Ajayi, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the National Sports Commission (NSC), celebrates her 60th birthday at a time when she is also marking the end of an illustrious career spanning three and a half decades of dedicated service.
For a woman who has devoted 35 years of her professional life to journalism, sports communication, and public relations, this milestone represents far more than a birthday celebration. It is an opportunity to reflect on a remarkable journey of commitment, professionalism, and service to Nigeria’s sports sector.
As a seasoned sports journalist and communications professional, Dr. Mrs. Ajayi has spent decades contributing to the development and promotion of Nigerian sports through her work in media and public relations. Her position as Director of Press and Public Relations at the NSC places her among the key professionals responsible for communicating the Commission’s policies, programmes, achievements, and vision to the Nigerian public.
Her career reflects the important role that sports journalists and public relations practitioners play in connecting sports administrators, athletes, stakeholders, and the public. Beyond reporting sporting events, effective sports communication helps shape public understanding, promote achievements, and preserve the history of sporting development.
Thirty-five years of service is no small achievement. It represents decades of experience, institutional knowledge, professional relationships, and dedication to a sector that continues to evolve.
As she celebrates her 60th birthday and approaches retirement, Dr. Mrs. Ajayi has every reason to look back with satisfaction on the years she has invested in her profession. Retirement may signal the conclusion of a formal working career, but the experience and knowledge accumulated over such a long period remain valuable assets to Nigerian sports.
Her milestone also serves as a reminder of the contributions of experienced professionals whose work often takes place behind the scenes but remains essential to the effective functioning of sports institutions.
On this special occasion, I join colleagues, friends, and the wider Nigerian sports community in celebrating Dr. Mrs. Kehinde Ajayi.
Happy 60th Birthday, Ma! Congratulations on 35 years of meritorious service to the nation.
May this new chapter of your life bring you good health, peace, happiness, renewed opportunities, and the fulfilment that comes with looking back on a career dedicated to service.
Happy Birthday and Happy Retirement, Dr. Mrs. Kehinde Ajayi.
