“TURN YOUR SKILLS INTO WEALTH” – Bayelsa State Coordinator tells Corps Members

Bayelsa State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Samuel Amaramiro Pepple, has challenged Corps Members to embrace entrepreneurship, turn acquired skills into sustainable businesses and position themselves as job creators in the face of limited paid employment opportunities.
Pepple gave the charge on Friday, 16 October 2026, at the closing ceremony of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) in-camp training for the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I Corps Members at the NYSC Bayelsa State Permanent Orientation Camp, Boro Town.
He stressed that financial independence requires creativity, hard work and determination, urging the Corps Members to take advantage of post-camp training and aspire to become employers of labour.

The Camp Director, Sir Raymond Anumaka Kennedy, said the six-day in-camp training was designed to expose Corps Members to entrepreneurship and practical skills, adding that affordable post-camp training opportunities had been arranged to help them deepen their chosen skills.
The ceremony climaxed with competitions in barbering, makeup artistry, fashion design, cosmetology, catering and leather works, where Corps Members showcased skills acquired during the training, with prizes presented to outstanding participants.
The programme ended with a renewed call on Corps Members to build on the skills acquired in camp, embrace digital and Artificial Intelligence training, and take deliberate steps towards creating sustainable businesses, jobs and livelihoods beyond the service year.
