The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and member representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Frederick Yeitiemone Agbedi, Ph.D., has paid separate condolence visits to the families of High Chief Fidelis Agbiki, Esq., and the late Hon. Chief Alfred Itiedu, following the deaths of their loved ones.

Rt. Hon. Agbedi, who visited the families on Saturday, October 3, 2026, described the losses as painful moments for the bereaved families and urged them to remain steadfast and take solace in God.

During his visit to High Chief Fidelis Agbiki, Agbedi condoled with the family over the death of Mrs. Felicia Dikemefa Benjamin (née Agbiki), who died at the age of 48.

Despite his official engagements, the federal lawmaker made time to identify with the family in their moment of grief. He encouraged them to draw strength from their faith and prayed that the family would not experience another loss of such magnitude.

Rt. Hon. Agbedi noted that it was painful for parents to lose their children, expressing the hope that, ordinarily, children should live long enough to bury their parents.

A minute of silence was observed in honour of the deceased.

Responding, High Chief Fidelis Agbiki thanked the Minority Leader for the visit and the support extended to the family, noting that his gesture demonstrated concern beyond political affiliations.

The family also announced that a service of songs for the deceased would be held on October 8, 2026, at the family’s residence, while the burial is scheduled for October 10, 2026, at Isampou Community in Ekeremor Local Government Area.

RT. HON. AGBEDI MOURNS LATE CHIEF ALFRED ITIEDU

In a separate condolence visit, Agbedi also paid his respects to the family of the late Hon. Chief Alfred Itiedu, who died at the age of 80.

The Minority Leader described the deceased as a close associate and a man with whom he had worked in several political committees and engagements across Bayelsa State.

Rt. Hon. Agbedi recalled the late Chief Itiedu’s contributions to political development in the state, describing him as straightforward, dedicated and strategic in his counsel.

According to him, the death of Chief Itiedu represents a loss to Bayelsa State, particularly given his contributions and commitment to the advancement of the state.

The Executive Chairman of the Bayelsa State Environmental Sanitation Authority and son of the deceased, High Chief Timothy Diekivie Itiedu, thanked Agbedi for taking time out of his schedule to visit the family.

He said his late father held the Minority Leader in high regard because of his dedication to public service, commitment to attracting development to Bayelsa State and focus on his legislative responsibilities.

High Chief Timothy Itiedu also announced that the burial of his father, the late Hon. Chief Alfred Itiedu, has been scheduled for November 3, 2026.

The condolence visits underscored Agbedi’s identification with the families at a difficult period and his continued engagement with constituents, community leaders and stakeholders beyond political considerations.
