Zambia to Host African Media Councils Conference

The Media Self-Regulation Council of Zambia is hosting the African Media Councils Conference on March 17-18, 2026, at the Urban Hotel in Lusaka. The event brings together media councils from across Africa to discuss regulatory, financial, and digital challenges facing the industry. The conference theme is “Media Councils: A Solidarity-Based Approach to Regulatory, Financial and Digital Challenges.

The two-day event, supported by BBC Media Action and other organizations, aims to strengthen alliances and develop collective strategies for media councils to adapt to the changing media landscape. The Republican President, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, is expected to attend, and international media experts will also participate.
