World Mental Health Day: MHYI Set To Host Youth Mental Health Conference 2023

 

Abuja Nigeria.-In honor of this year’s World Mental Health Day, Mental Health for Youth Initiative is proud to announce the Youth Mental Health Conference (YMHC) 2023, a transformative three-day event aimed at promoting mental well-being among young people. The conference will be held from the 7th to the 10th of October 2023

World Mental Health Day: MHYI Set To Host Youth Mental Health Conference 2023

The conference aims to create awareness and advocate for increased intervention on mental health issues in Nigeria. It will feature a variety of activities, including a mental health road walk, a mental health art competition for secondary school students in Abuja, the launch of a mental health awareness and sensitization guide for young people, keynote speeches, panel sessions, and main conference sessions.

 

Lucy Abeng who is the Founder and executive director of Mental Health for Youth Initiative has stated that “Mental health is a critical issue, but it is often overlooked or stigmatized, especially among young people and The Youth Mental Health Conference 2023 is an opportunity to break down these barriers and start a conversation about mental health in Nigeria. We want to show young people that they are not alone and that there are resources available to help them”

 

Event Highlights:

Mental Health Road Walk (October 7th, 2023): Join us for a refreshing start as we kick off with a Mental Health Road Walk, commencing at 7:00 AM from the Old Parade Ground in Garki, Abuja. This invigorating walk aims to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and well-being.

Mental Health Art Competition (October 9th, 2023, 9:00 AM): Witness the creativity of our future leaders in action as secondary school students participate in the Mental Health Art Competition themed “Finding Strength Within: Embracing Our Wellbeing.” Their artwork will inspire and educate on the significance of mental health.

Main Conference (October 10th, 2023, World Mental Health Day): On this pivotal day, under the theme “Mental Health is a Universal Right,” the main conference will commence. This event will mark the launch of the Mental Health Education and Awareness Guide for Young People. Distinguished keynote speakers from WHO and UNICEF, along with enlightening panel sessions from notable mental health organizations, promise a day of deep insights and inspiration.
