Women’s African champion Van Wyk and Ivorian legend Tchetche to headline CAF Women’s Champions League draw on Monday

 

Janine Van Wyk, one of South Africa’s most celebrated women footballers and the current African Champion, will join former Ivorian defender Fernande Tchetche as the two draw assistants as the CAF Women’s Champions League Draw on Monday, 09 October 2023 in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

The draw will be live on CAF’s website CAFONLINE.com, and CAF TV (YouTube) at 16h00 GMT (18h00 CAT, 19h00 East Africa Time).  The CAF Women’s Champions League is Africa’s premium women’s club continental football. It features champions from CAF’s six Zones, the host nation and a team.

Van Wyk represented South Africa 183 times – making her the second-highest-capped player in Africa, after Ahmed Hassan (Egypt). She is part of the South African team that won the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco 2022.

Tchetche, one of the legends of women’s football in Cote d’Ivoire, played for local sides Lakota FC and Omness de Dabou. She represented her country during the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2015 where they finished third and the Women’s World Cup the same year.
Reigning champions, AS FAR of Morocco, will headline the draw along with inaugural edition winners, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.
