When will Super Eagles play their 2025 AFCON qualifiers vs Benin and Rwanda? CAF confirms dates

Super Eagles of Nigeria have been placed in AFCON qualifiers Group D alongside the Benin Republic, Rwanda, and Libya

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially released the dates for the Super Eagles’ 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been placed in Group D alongside the Cheetahs of Benin, Rwanda’s Amavubi, and Libya, all vying for a spot in the upcoming AFCON tournament.

With excitement growing among Nigerian football fans, the Super Eagles are gearing up for these critical fixtures as they look to secure their place in the continental showpiece.

On September 7, the 2013 AFCON champions will host Gernot Rohr’s Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, before travelling to Kigali for a matchday two encounter against Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium on the 10th of the same month.

Having finished as runners-up at the 2023 AFCON, Nigeria is determined to make a stronger push for the coveted title and bring the gold medal home.

However, this ambition faces uncertainty, as the three-time AFCON champions currently find themselves without a head coach to lead them into these crucial matches.

Finidi George, who previously held the position of Super Eagles head coach, resigned due to a reported lack of support from the Nigeria Football Federation.

With the coaching role vacant and less than a month to go before their first AFCON qualifying match, the Super Eagles’ prospects for success appear increasingly challenging.
