Watch: Sadio Mane misses glorious opportunity to score for Liverpool
Sadio Mane missed a glorious chance to double Liverpool‘s lead against Newcastle as his drought in front of goal continues.
Mane has been prolific during his five-year spell at Anfield but has endured something of a blip this season.
The Senegal forward has only netted 13 times in all competitions this season and his goal at Leeds on Monday was his first Premier League strike since mid-January.
And he missed a great opportunity to score against Newcastle. Team-mate Mo Salah raced through and squared the ball to an unmarked Mane.
Despite goalkeeper Martin Dubravka being out of position, the forward dithered and the Newcastle stopper was able to swipe the ball from Mane’s feet.
In a recent interview with Liverpool’s official website, Mane said: “It’s a really, really tough time for me, we have to recognise that, but it’s part of football and I already know it so I’m dealing with it and trying to work as hard as I can to help the team more.
“A few years ago I would maybe struggle a bit more but now I have more experience and know a bit more about football so I know how this kind of time is.”
