Warri Agog As Itsekiri Crowns Tsola Emiko New Olu
UGHELLI – There was jubilation in Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiri People as Prince Utienyinoritse-Tsola Emiko was crowned as Ogiame Atuwatse III and the 21st Olu of Warri Kingdom.
The new Olu of Warri was crowned shortly after he fulfilled all the traditional rites in line with the Itsekiri customs and tradition.
His coronation followed the completion of traditional rites in line with Itsekiri tradition.
He will now be addressed and called His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse lll.
He has taken a name after his father, Atuwatse ll, who reigned between 1987 and 2015.
The Itsekiri people were very happy as they danced and organized boat regatta in his honour.
Our Correspondent who covered the event reports that commercial shops and markets were shut down during the event.
However, passengers groaned as they trekked long distances due to the heavy traffic jam in the town.
