Votes Now Belong To Judges — Prof. Odinkalu Reacts To Swearing In Of Wife Of Gov Diri As Judge
*Sarcastically Says Every Politician Needs To “Own” One
The Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, has reacted to the swearing in of the wife of Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, as a judge of High Court of the state.
The Governor had on Thursday, December 30, inaugurated his wife and three others as new judges to serve in the Bayelsa State High Court. The four new judges are Lockie James Benimo, Patience Ama Zuofa Diri, Simon Warikiyei Amaduobogha and Christine Irigha Kombo-Enegesi.
In reaction, Odinkalu said votes now belong to judges so every politician needs to have one
“#Nigerian politicians are not taking chances anymore: since the casting vote in every election belongs to judges, every politician needs to “own” one. Governor @douyediri in Yanagoa has rectified that now. It is the dominant political business model.”
