Tragedy in Southeast State As Gunmen Kill INEC Staff, Kidnap Wife
In what can be described as a sad development, gunmen have killed an Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Staff Mr Emmanuel Igwe.
He was reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen along the Ivo Local Government Area axis of the state.
The victim, an Assistant Electoral Officer in Afikpo North LGA, encountered the assailants while on his way back from Abia State.
The victim’s wife was equally kidnapped.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Youth Network for Good Governance and Sustainable Democracy has urged opposition parties to stop media attacks on the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu.
Politics Nigeria reports that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and his counterpart of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, petitioned the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal after INEC declared Bola Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
This was disclosed in a statement made by the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Constantine Ikechukwu.
