Tinubu, Obasa, others salute industrious Nelson
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday joined other dignitaries to condole with the family of former APC women leader, Chief Kemi Nelson, who died on Sunday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that sympathisers have continued to throng the Lagos home of the former APC women leader after news of her death broke.
Tinubu was in company with his wife, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde and other dignitaries.
Tinubu described the late Nelson as a highly respected and industrious woman, whose contributions toward the party and Lagos State would be missed.
The APC presidential candidate spoke glowingly of Nelson’s contributions toward the development of the party and her tenacity in the fight for women emancipation.
Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mr. Mudashiru Obasa says the state has lost a bright light following the death of Mrs. Nelson.
Obasa made this known in a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Eromosele Ebhomele, yesterday in Lagos.
Obasa described the death of the politician as a huge loss to Lagos State, APC, members of the party and the country.
The APC Lagos West Senatorial District candidate, Dr. Idiat Adebule, has described the death of Nelson as shocking and sad.
She said her death “is a great loss to our party, the APC.”
According to her, Yeye Sewa’s death came at a time the party needed her most in galvanising support through the mobilisation of women across the country.
The Chairman of the Lagos State APC, Pastor Ojelabi, has mourned Mrs. Nelson.
Ojelabi, in a statement yesterday by his spokesperson, Mrs. Omobola Nowoola-Akingbehin, described the deceased as an Amazon, who took every assignment given to her seriously.
“Chief Nelson was a visionary leader, an inspirational woman leader, strategic, authentic, loyal, responsible and a dependable mobiliser of great women.
“She will be sorely missed, especially now that the party needs her wealth of experience in the journey to the 2023 general election.
“I pray God to grant her eternal rest, console the immediate family as well as the APC family she left behind,” Ojelabi said.
