Borussia Dortmund chief Sebastian Kehl has denied rumours suggesting Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Erling Haaland.
Pep Guardiola‘s side are ready to make the Norwegian the highest-paid player in England and as Sportsmail revealed earlier this week, City remain confident they will win the race for Europe’s hottest property, although it is not yet a done deal.
Kehl says no deal has been reached but admitted Haaland does have a release clause and a decision on his future will need to be made ‘as soon as possible’.
Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland will choose his next club in the next two weeks
When asked if a club has expressed interest in paying the £63million release clause, Kehl told Sky Sports Germany: ‘There is a release clause, you know, and there is a deadline.’
Sources have disclosed that the Norwegian’s next destination is likely to be announced in the next fortnight.
Last month, this newspaper revealed that the striker had discussed personal terms with City and that the Premier League champions were willing to pay him in excess of £500,000 a week, which would make him the country’s highest earner.

Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, is also set to cash in with a huge bonus along with the player’s father, former City midfielder Alf-Inge.
In total, the deal for Haaland is likely to be close to £100m.
Frees-scoring Haaland has scored 58 league goals in 55 starts since he joined Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in 2020.
The 21-year-old striker is one of Europe’s hottest talents and wanted by a string of elite clubs
He has also scored 15 goals in 17 appearances for his country.
The likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona and PSG have also been linked with the striker, who scored a brace in the 6-1 win over Wolfsburg on Saturday.
Guardiola has been searching for a striker for some time, with City unsuccessful in their pursuit of Tottenham’s Harry Kane last year.
