Shegbelite FC Reaches First Quarter Final in History
Crusaders Feeders FC seized control of the Bayelsa State Governor’s Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup title race as Junior Christopher inspired a crucial 4-1 win over Ogbo United of Ikibiri on Wednesday at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
Junior Christopher scored a hattrick to increase his goal tally to ten goals in the competition same with Peter Christopher of Ogbo United who scored the only goal for the Ikibiri side.
The Crusaders pointman opened the floodgate of goals eight minutes into the game from a low cross and set up Great Vincent’s goal to double the lead for Crusaders Feeders on 17 minute.
Few minutes later Peter Christopher scored from a spot kick to give Ogbo United a life line but their expectations were cut short on 68 minute when Junior Christopher fired home to compound Ogbo United woes.
Just before the final whistle Junior Christopher capped the victory with a solo effort to make it 4-1 having overpowered tournament revelation Everton Academy of Ikolo 15-0 to clinch the round of 16 ticket.
Earlier in the day, enjoyment boys Shegbelite FC beat resilient Bayelsa United Feeders 3-2 on penalties after playing a 1-1 draw in regulation time in a packed stadium.
More Round of 16 matches will come up on Thursday at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Biseni United will take on De Grace FC at 1pm while the second game sees high flying NUJ FC square up with Dreams Academy School FC by 3pm.
