The former Chairman of the Defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Ebonyi State chapter, Sam Igwe, yesterday, called on both presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, to step down for Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

In a chat with journalists in Abakaliki, Igwe said age is no longer on Tinubu’s side, stressing that his health is failing him. He urged the former Lagos State Governor to tow the path of honour and step aside for vibrant persons, like Umahi and Rotimi Amaechi.

Igwe, who was former PDP youth leader in the state, added that though Tinubu, as a leader, has built many people; he should give younger leaders space to also grow like him.

Igwe further urged the presidential candidate of PDP, Atiku, to step aside for Wike in the interest of peace and unity. He noted that it is the turn of South East to produce next president of the country in 2023, and that Atiku’s candidacy is against that. He said: “Tinubu is a leader, but I always say things the way they are. He should consider stepping down for Umahi.”
