The executives of the State Directors of Sports Forum on Wednesday paid a familiarization visit to the Minister Sports Senator John Owan Enoh ahead of the 7th National Youth Games in Asaba Delta State.
The forum was led by the chairman and Director of Sports Ebonyi State Mr. Utobo Emmanuel and other Directors of Sports across the country at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja.
Chairman of the forum Mr.Utobo Emmanuel in a remark said the essence of the visit was to officially felicitate with him on his appointment as the Minister of sports as well as to intimate him on the Forum’s activities to compliment his tenure.
According to Mr. Emmanuel, the Directors of Sports forum play a pivotal role in the development of sports in Nigeria through the grassroots sports because all the athletes are nurtured to the national level, stating that sports is incomplete without the collective planning and participation of the forum.
While appreciating the minister for the audience, the Directors appealed to the Minister to see the forum as a serious component of core decision making that would help the overall development of sports in the country.
He advised the new sports minister to canvass support for sports development from state governments to compliment the efforts of the federal government by making the States and zones more functional and active.
Director of Sports Bayelsa State Sports Council Sir Braveman Wodi and Public Relations Officer of the forum who moved for the vote of thanks lauded the minister for giving the forum a listening ear and assured him of effective collaboration with the sports ministry for him to achieve a fruitful tenure as a minister.
The highpoint of the visit was presentation of souvenirs to the sports minister Senator John Enoh as well as group photograph.
Those in attendance were Alhaji Usman Umar Ladan Director of Sports Kebbi, Vice chairman , Alhaji Zainab Isaku Treasurer Director of Sports Gombe, Alhaji Baba Shesi Director of Sports, Niger.
