Liverpool made an official announcement on Wednesday, revealing that Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, and James Milner will be departing the club during the upcoming summer.

 

All four players played significant roles in Liverpool’s recent triumphs, including winning the Champions League and Premier League titles under the leadership of Jurgen Klopp. The club’s decision to part ways with them is driven by a desire to rejuvenate the squad with younger talent.

In a tweet, the club confirmed the news: “We can confirm that Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be leaving the club upon the expiry of their contracts this summer. Special tributes will be given to the quartet at Anfield, with further acknowledgments to follow at the end of the season.”

Looking at the bigger picture, each player had their own unique impact during their time at Liverpool. Roberto Firmino is regarded as a club legend, while James Milner’s versatility and durability made him a significant presence over his eight-year tenure. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain showcased his contributions in the 2017-18 season with 32 appearances and played a crucial role in the title-winning campaign of 2019-20, although injuries hampered his further involvement. Naby Keita’s time at the club may have been underwhelming overall, but he still had notable moments during Liverpool’s successful trophy runs.
