Shock as Navy loses Chief of Operations Katagum in Egypt

‎The Nigerian Navy has been thrown into mourning following the death of its Chief of Operations at Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral Musa Bello Katagum.

‎He reportedly died in Egypt where he had been receiving medical care after a prolonged illness.

‎Announcing the development, Acting Director of Information of the Navy, Captain AA Folorunsho, said the deceased officer contributed immensely to recent operational successes of the Service.

‎“The Nigerian Navy regrets to announce the passing of Rear Admiral Musa Bello Katagum… his invaluable contributions were instrumental to the operational successes of the Nigerian Navy in recent times,” Folorunsho said.

‎He described the late admiral as a courageous and dedicated officer who served the nation with honour and professionalism.

‎“Rear Admiral Katagum was a dedicated and highly respected senior officer whose career was marked by exceptional professionalism, commitment to duty and invaluable contributions to naval operations and national security,” he added.

‎The Navy said personnel across the Service were deeply saddened by the loss, noting that his legacy would continue to inspire officers and men.

‎According to the statement, the deceased had been buried according to Islamic rites.

‎The Service extended condolences to his family, friends and associates and prayed for the repose of his soul.
