Rivers United Boost Squad with Signing of Goalkeeper Clinton Ezekiel

Rivers United have strengthened their squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign with the acquisition of goalkeeper Clinton Andy Ezekiel from Bayelsa United.
The promising shot-stopper has completed a one-year deal with the Port Harcourt-based club as preparations continue for both the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season and the CAF Champions League.
Ezekiel becomes one of several new arrivals at Rivers United as head coach Finidi George looks to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts. The club is expected to challenge for domestic honours while also making a strong impression in continental competition.
The young goalkeeper earned a reputation at Bayelsa United for his quick reflexes, confident handling and ability to organise his defence. His performances attracted interest from Rivers United, who moved swiftly to secure his services before the start of the new season.
Ezekiel’s arrival further increases competition in the goalkeeping department. The Pride of Rivers have already recruited former Niger Tornadoes goalkeeper Ifeanyi Nchekwube as part of their summer rebuilding exercise.
By bringing in two talented goalkeepers, Rivers United are showing their determination to strengthen every area of the squad and improve on last season’s performances.
Finidi George is expected to assess his options during pre-season before deciding on his first-choice goalkeeper for the upcoming campaign.
With preparations gathering momentum, Rivers United supporters will be hoping the latest additions provide the quality and depth needed to compete successfully in both the NPFL and the CAF Champions League, where consistency and squad strength will be crucial throughout a demanding season.
