Recklessness, imposition in APC, PDP brought Nigeria to its knees – SDP scribe

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has stated that it would allow the excessiveness, imposition of candidates and recklessness of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to permeate into the SDP.
The National Secretary, Malam Shehu Gabam, who make this remark, Wednesday, in an interview with the Blueprint, said the misbehaviour in both parties brought the country to her knees, and therefore, such vices would not be tolerated in the SDP.
While explaining that the party does not brook god-fatherism, Gabam noted that so far, everything has been under control, stating that decency, morality and  discipline in the party had been intact.
He hinted that SDP was expecting many high profile members but could not name them.
“We don’t allow the excessiveness or the imposition of the two parties that has brought the country to its knees  to happen to SDP, God willing. I’m not predicting anything further than this because you can’t predict human beings behaviour. But as it is today, we are fully in charge, everything is under control, morality and decency is intact, we have not compromised anyone.

“Under this current leadership in SDP, there are no godfathers in SDP; we never had one and we won’t have one. But what is attracting people to SDP is simply because we never allow corruption to enshrine in our process. When you want to buy our form, we ask people to pay into the bank and you come straight to collect your form, you don’t need to see anybody or bribe anybody before collecting your form.
“No officer of the party will tax you or frustrate you before giving you your form. We believe we must do things different from what APC and PDP is doing. I was a PDP member before, I know everything surrounding PDP and if we have not changed those processes, it means there’s nothing new in SDP.
“And over the years, you can bear witness that we’ve been on top of issues, we have been responding to national issues and we’ve been telling people that this is a party that is willing to accommodate all shades of opinions but with discipline, with decorum and so on and so forth.”

On the recently conducted congresses, Gabam said, “We conducted our congresses very successfully. There was no report of any crisis. I was shocked to see reports in newspapers suggesting there was a problem in Imo.
“We never had any problem in Imo during our congresses, INEC was there, the police were there. So there was no single two-man fighting in imo state. So I don’t know Where the pressmen found two men fighting linking it to SDP,” Gabam said.
