Real Estate Agents in Bayelsa commend Police over investigation into murder of member, Richard Ekpebu

Members of the Association of Real Estate consultants in Bayelsa State have commended the authorities of the State Police Command led by Francis Idu over the ongoing investigation and arrest of suspected killers of the 42 years old Real Estate Agent in the state, Richard Ekpebu.

42-year-old Bayelsa real estate agent named Richard Ekpebu was allegedly murdered on the 24th of July, 2025 by a client, George Idumangi (also known as Pastor Brandy), over a disputed land transaction.

George Idumangi girlfriend was among those arrested and recovered one pump action gun, five live cartridges, two empty AK 47 magazines, 10 walkie talkies, 10 chargers and three AK-47 rifle slings in her custody in Yenagoa.

The Chairman of the Association of Real Estate consultants, Bayelsa chapter, Evangelist Esi J. Sam Eres, while speaking during the 2025 end of the year party/award ceremony ,said the award bestowed on the Commissioner of Police,Francis Idu and Commander of the Operation Puff Adder, CSP Chris Nwaogbo was in recognition of the efforts of the Police for show of capacity, intelligence gathering, community policing and security of life and property in the state.

He said the award of excellence is the Association’s little way of showing gratitude for the successes recorded in the arrest of the alleged killers of the Vice Chairman of the Association, late Richard Ekpebu.

Also honoured with award of excellence in their various field of endeavours are the Former Speaker of the State House of Assembly and Commissioner for Housing, Rt. Hon. Toney Isenah, Former State Assembly member and Industrialist, Chief Robert Enoah, Estate Surveyor and Valuer. Rt.Hon. Remy Hazzan, the Chairman of the Association of Real Estate Consultants, Bayelsa chapter, Evangelist Esi J. Sam Eres,

The Public Relations Officer of the Association of Real Estate consultants, Ebizimor Cockson, the Vice Chairman, Sydney Kekepai and the Secetary, Binatari Fiebigha were also honoured for excellence in service.

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the Association of Real Estate consultants in Bayelsa State, Evangelist Esi J. Sam Eres, acknowledge the ongoing reforms in the real estate practice in the state with practical policies of separating professionalism from quackery.

Evangelist Esi J. Sam Eres also noted that with over 700 persons registered as professionals practicing in the state, the association is liaising with professional bodies such as the Nigerian Union of Journalists(NUJ), the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and the various agencies of the state government to ensure that integrity, transparency and professionalism is displayed in the real estate practice in the state.

He said ” 2025 has shown steady progress with an increased interest in Bayelsa influx of investors from outside the state.”

Also speaking, Estate Surveyor and Valuer. Rt.Hon. Remy Hazzan, admonished the members of the association to avoid acts that will bring distrust between practicing Real Estate professionals and 5he public in Bayelsa State.

He commended the leadership of the Association of Real Estate consultants in Bayelsa State for embarking on needed reforms with proper registration of practitioners, urging them to ensure that the issue of objectivity, accountability serves as their watchwords.
