Prosperity Cup 2025: More Teams Secure Quarter Final Slots

The last, but one round of matches in the last 16 of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup, have been completed.
In Friday morning’s early kick off at the Samson Siasia Stadium, former champions, Eternal Grace Ministry, EGM FC walloped Royal All Stars four nil to progress to the quarter finals of the competition.
Godknows Ikpe opened the floodgate of goals 16 minutes into the game from a beautiful build up to find the back of the net. Samuel Pedro added another to make it two nil on 33 minutes through a well-delivered cross. Izou made it three just on the stroke of halftime.
Royal All Stars woes were compounded in the 79th minute when Godknows fired home from close range to make it four goals to nil.
In the second game at the same venue, Bayelsa United Feeders defeated Sagbama LGA champions, Agbere FC of Agbere 5-3 on penalties after a barren draw in regulation time.
Movers FC of Otuasega triumphed 3-2 on penalties over Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe to secure their quarter finals ticket.
At the Niger Delta University, NDU Arena, Advance Dreams FC of Yenagoa edged out hard-fighting Akeddei FC of Akeddei by three goals to two to progress into the quarter finals
Youbolobo FC of Agge humbled Adaka FC of Kaiama two nil in the last match of the day at the Amassoma centre to secure a smooth passage into the quarter finals.
Two second half goals from Epini Amos and Ume David in the 57th and 66th minutes were all the Ekeremor LGA side needed to advance to the quarter finals of the competition.
In the meantime the quarter-final pairings of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football showpiece have been completed.
Former champions, Eternal Grace Ministry, EGM FC of Yenagoa will face Professor Nimibofa Ayawei, PNA FC of Koluama in the first of the quarter final confrontations, while Bayelsa United Feeders entertain Elton Mina’s Movers FC of Otuasega.
Advance Dreams FC of Yenagoa will battle Youbolobo FC of Agge while Crusaders FC of Peretoru will slug it out with the winner of the encounter between Citiboi FC of Imiringi and Sangana FC of Sangana, which will be decided at the BDGS Centre on Sunday, May 25th.
