Prosperity Cup 2024: Defending Champions Krusaders Feeders Crash Out Of Tournament

 

Defending champions, Krusaders Feeders FC slumped to a 1-0 to Agbere FC to crash out of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football tournament, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament christened the Prosperity Cup in an encounter decided at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.

The Ebi Amula tutored side, Agbere FC took the biggest scalp of the round of sixteen fixtures, stunning a five star performance to earn the victory, sending one of the tournament’s favorites out of the competition.

Moke Fred scored the only goal for last year’s semi finalist Agbere FC on 18 minute when the Krusaders Feeders FC’s defence line failed to clear a low ball in the danger zone as Fred meandered his way inside the box to slot in the ball to send Agbere FC fans into jubilation.

 

Bayelsa United Feeders and Petroleum Boys FC of Ekeremor produced a tournament display with Feeders edging out Petroleum Boys FC 4-3 on penalties after a one all draw in normal time. Stanley Amon had put the young Prosperity lads ahead two minutes into the game but Petroleum Boys FC restored parity from Jeremiah Ebiye just before the end of halftime.

Earlier at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Adulama FC of Southern Ijaw beat Afini FC 4-2 after a two all draw in regulation time to progress to the quarter finals, just as Ogboinbiri FC who pipped Rose of Sharon 1-0 to move to the money spinning stage.

Kongho FC at the Nembe City stadium pummeled Ogbia side Anyama FC 4-1. Forward Tobin put Kongho FC ahead a minute into the game, Akime added another on 13 minute. Anyama FC talisman, Vincent Azibapu’s consolation goal on 51 minute was not enough as Pere’s brace abbreviated Anyama FC’s participation in this year’s Prosperity Cup.

Elton Mina’s hat trick on 7, 47, 87 minutes could not save Ogbia champions, Movers FC of Otuasega who were booted out of the tournament by Wodu FC at the Nembe City stadium. Wodu FC beat Movers FC 5-3 on penalties after a 3-3 draw in regulation time.

Nembe City FC at the Otuasega township stadium trounce Samba Boys 5-1 to qualify for the quarter finals while Solid Star FC proved their solidity as they ended Police Machine FC’s beautiful run in the tournament with a 2-1 triumph over the Police side.

Quarter finals matches in Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football tournament christened the Prosperity Cup will return on Friday and Saturday. The women’s tournament fixture will come up on Friday while the men’s tie will be on Saturday at Samson Siasia Stadium.
