*Amatu II CDC chairman calls FG, security agencies’ intervention
The Amatu II community of the Ekeremor Local Government Area in Bayelsa State is urgently calling on the Federal government, Security Agencies, and the Bayelsa state government to intervene regarding the terrorist activities led by Barry Negerese and his monstrous gang.
The Dodo River, located in Bayelsa State, Nigeria, is part of a region rich in oil and gas resources. Dodo River is known for its numerous oil fields, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s petroleum industry.
The Dodo River and its surrounding areas play a crucial role in the local economy due to oil exploration and production activities. However, it needs the federal government and security agencies to come to her aid.
The Dodo River, an area endowed with rich oil and gas resources, has become a focal point for unrest, jeopardizing the safety and well-being of its residents. This region, known for its vital contribution to Nigeria’s petroleum industry, is now overshadowed by intimidation and violence that threaten its stability.
The Amatu II community chairman, Dcn. Ebomowei, Peter David lamented that Barry Negerese, employing the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) attached Tantita Security Services, to terrorize the Dodo River communities, especially the Amatu II community. They have resorted to firing guns into the air to instill fear among those who oppose Negerese’s actions.
I have faced alarming threats, receiving gunpoint intimidation for dissenting against his interests. My family and I are no longer safe “Dcn. Ebomowei cried out”.
In October 2024, l wrote a petition on behalf of my Community, “Amatu II” regarding the criminal act against the Nigerian Civil Defence and their paymaster Mr. Berry Negerese to the Tantita Security Services Limited office. The Management of Tantita called us for a meeting and warned them not to interfere with community matters or be used by anybody but they did not stick to the resolution.
According to Dcn. Ebomowei, Mr. Berry Negerese has been troubling the community simply because l refused to do his bids.
“I am bringing this vital information to Mr. President, Governor Douye Diri and all security agencies in Nigeria to know what is going on in the riverine area of Bayelsa state which gangsters, outlaws, hoodlums, and terrorists have turned into a criminal hub.
According to an interview with Mr. Sam, and other stakeholders in the area, Mr. Negerese has been harboring and training criminal gangs, including kidnappers, sea pirates, and thugs.
The security situation in Dodo River is a terrible one where fear has replaced the once harmonious existence of its inhabitants.
In May 2014, a calculated plot unfolded at Dodo River. Barry Negerese, with calculated intent, guided three Dutch expatriates and two blacks into a trap, bypassing security protocols by not informing them. He perfected plans to kidnap them with his trained terrorists in the creek who demanded the best way to kidnap them when bringing them is when he convinced them of their safety so he would not involve the security.
Waiting in the shadows, his trained terrorists lurked, prepared to execute their plans. As they were returning from Amatu II after visiting the site of the project they come for, they unwittingly fell prey to a predatory ambition, ensnared by deceit and treachery in a secluded creek.
One of the criminals that abducted Four (4) Expatriates in MV AMBIKA, a Sterling Oil dredger at Ramos River Agge, and killed Four Naval Personnel has been harbored by Barry Negerese.
One of the major cases of kidnapping of foreign oil workers in the Niger Delta took place on the 6th of June 2006 where Barry Negerese gave information and details on how they can succeed in kidnapping expatriates in Peak Petroleum and Equator Exploration, and they successfully kidnapped the expatriates and were released to the former deputy Governor, Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi with the ransom of Fifteen Million Naira (#15,000,000.00).
Barry Negerese aligns with his co-criminal and associates in Bilabiri Mein to install Paul B. Seide as Egbesu king, where he will be given bulletproof to criminals for sea piracy, kidnapping, killing, and thugering in Dodo rivers and beyond.
Barry Negerese and his devilish gang are heading the plan to storm SPDC Estuaries Area (EA) Oil Field for their selfish interest so they will rob it on the chairmen in other to bring in their loyalist to sign every single contract since some of us are interested in developing our community instead of agreeing with them.
The said Berry Negerese and gang intend to seize control over community contracts and resources from SPDC and Chevron Nigeria Limited. He strategically positions loyalists in leadership roles to manipulate decisions within Dodo River communities and other neighboring communities’ governance “Dcn. Ebimobowei added”
Mr. Barry and his gang beat up and wound Mr. Simon Okungbenwei “former chairman Amatu II” and Chief Amos Iyelaha for not supporting his decision to dethrone me as chairman and force his loyalists on them when my tenure as chairman had not ended.
This criminal attitude is causing crises in the whole communities of Dodo. The community chairman’s resistance to his dubious act now resulted crisis in the communities
The impact of these actions is far-reaching, not only affecting the livelihoods of the people but also eroding trust among community leaders, leading to fractures that risk further violence.
Barry Negerese who became chairman of Dodo River RDA under the platform of Agbami Oil Field operated by Chevron stayed in office for over eleven (11) years instead of four years. Within the eleven (11) years of his chairmanship, there is nothing tangible to ride home about. He single-handedly handed over the chairmanship position to his brother, Francis Amamogiran and Francis Amamogiran became the chairman of Dodo River RDA for Seven years and Barry is still forcing him on the people to continue just for his selfish interest. They have together embezzled billions of community funds. Commissioning private projects in urban areas to claim they have executed the project in the region just to hijack community funds.
In light of these alarming developments, the Amatu 11 community together with other neighboring communities is making a heartfelt appeal to the President and relevant security agencies to come to our aid.
We plead with the security agencies to pitch into Barry Negerese and his monstrous gang to investigate and bring to book their criminal activities. We want the federal government to intervene and bring peace to our region.
We don’t want the services of Tantita Security Services Limited and the Civil Defense attached to them since they are oppressing our people and shooting guns in the community.
“We are also pleading with Mr. President, the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, and security agencies to please help us evacuate these murderers and criminals in their numbers from our community so we can enjoy the sustaining peace in Dodo River communities again”, they said.
