Police arrest 33-year-old drug dealer, nine criminal suspects in Jigawa

Operatives of Jigawa State Police Command have arrested a suspected drug dealer Mahdi Salisu, 33, of Taura town and nine other suspected criminals, following a raid on criminal hideouts and black spots at Unguwar Gabas in Taura Local Council of the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Shiisu Adam, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on behalf of the Commissioner of Police at the Command’s Headquarters in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.

He said: “As part of the deliberate effort of the Command to rid the state of crimes and criminalities, on July 11 at about 2300hrs, a team of policemen attached to Taura Divisional Police Headquarters led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Yohana Babale, raided criminal hideouts and black spots at Unguwar Gabas in Taura L.G.A.”
According to him, the suspects arrested during the raid include; Isah Saleh ‘m’, Usman Hassan ‘m’, 25, Dahiru Sama’ila ‘m’, 20, all of Manlafiya in Kaugama L.G.A.

Others are; Usman Nasiru ‘m’, 20 of Rigar Garin Baushe Gagarawa Division, Yusufa Usman ‘m’, 18, of Dugunu Gujungu Taura L.G.A, Ali Ado ‘m’, 3, and Garba Wada ‘m’, 20, all of Gambayi Nomi Village.

Others include; Hassan Muhammad ‘m’, 20 of Bela Gagarawa L.G.A, and Nura Haruna ‘m’, 20, of Jimfi Kaugama L.G.A.

“Intelligence gathering led to the arrest of a drug dealer at Bakin Kasuwa (Area) black spot in Taura town, named Mahdi Salisu ‘m’, 33, of Taura town, Taura LGA.

Similarly, he noted that operatives found one hundred and two (102) wraps and some quantity (in black nylon) of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp as exhibits in his possession.

He further stated that after thorough and discreet investigation, all the suspects will be charged to court to face the full wrath of the law. 

MEANWHILE, the  State Commissioner of Police,  Aliyu Sale Tafida, has said raids on criminal hideouts and black spots will continue throughout the state.

While appreciating the effort of Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Taura and his team, he called on him and other officers in the Command to be committed and more resilient until all crimes and criminalities are reduced to the barest minimum in the state.
