PDP in Emergency Talks: BoT, Governors, Lawmakers Meet Over Vacated National Executive Positions
PDP Leaders Meet in Abuja to Chart Way Forward After Court Ruling

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday convened a high-level consultative meeting in Abuja to deliberate on the party’s future following a recent court ruling that nullified the positions of its National Executive Committee.
The strategic meeting brought together key stakeholders across the party structure, including members of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), PDP governors, leaders of the National Assembly, state party chairmen, and other prominent figures within the party.
Among those in attendance was Fred Agbedi, leader of the PDP Caucus in the House of Representatives and member representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency. Agbedi joined other party leaders in discussions focused on stabilizing and repositioning the party in the aftermath of the ruling.
Speaking earlier on Tuesday, Agbedi explained that following the court decision, the party’s Board of Trustees—often described as the “conscience of the party”—alongside statutory members of the National Executive Committee, would temporarily oversee the management of party affairs pending the conduct of a fresh national convention.
According to him, the interim arrangement is designed to ensure continuity in the party’s leadership while preparations are underway for a convention that will usher in a new set of national executives.
Wednesday’s meeting was convened under the leadership of Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees and a former Senate President, who presided over deliberations on the party’s future direction.
During the discussions, party leaders emphasized the importance of unity, internal cohesion, and collective commitment among members as the PDP works toward restructuring its leadership framework.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the party’s internal democratic processes and ensuring that the forthcoming national convention produces credible and widely accepted leadership.
The meeting forms part of a broader series of consultations within the PDP aimed at maintaining stability and positioning the party for future political engagements across the country.
