African Cultural Gala Night holds Nov 4
Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozorkwor, and actor, Alexx Ekubo, are among the galaxy of stars set for a three-city tour of the UK, beginning at the Lighthouse Theatre in Camberwell, southeast London, tomorrow.

Billed as ‘Excess Comedy,’ the three-legged tour will, after tomorrow’s opening, move to Leicester on Saturday, October 29.

One week after, the stars will head to Nottingham on Saturday, November 5, for the final outing.

Others lined up on the cards include: Retired Mad Man, MOG Akpos, Sarkin Dariya, Lafin Gas, Yellow Mouth and Acapella.

But before their last appearance in Nottingham, there will be another taste of Nigerian and African flavour the night before in Croydon, where the yearly African Cultural Gala Night (ACGN) holds on Friday, November 4.

ACGN founder, Ayan De First, told The Guardian in a recent interview that it is important “to promote and showcase our African culture,” noting it is what has catapulted some stars into global stardom.

Acts billed to perform in Croydon include: Oduduwa Talking Drummers, Ugandan ACD Arts, Sierra-Leonean Usifu Jalloh, Bene Tally (Senegalese) and a Moroccan band, Dakka Gnawa.
