‘Osimhen is coming’ – Bol says Super Eagles striker has been hiding Galatasaray’s problems

Turkish football pundit Emre Bol has suggested that Victor Osimhen’s prolific goalscoring form and impressive performances have helped mask some of Galatasaray’s weaknesses.

The Nigeria international has missed the Turkish champions’ last three matches across all competitions, during which they have suffered two defeats, including Saturday’s 4-0 thrashing by Trabzonspor.

Before his spell on the sidelines, Osimhen had scored in each of Galatasaray’s opening four Super Lig matches of the new season.

With the 27-year-old in the squad, the Lions dropped just two points from their first four league games, drawing against Corum FK before recording victories over Erzurumspor FK, Göztepe and Basaksehir.

Bol highlighted the extent of Osimhen’s influence, arguing that the striker’s individual contributions had made Galatasaray appear stronger than they were.

In quotes relayed by Sports Digital Platform, he said: “Osimhen is coming, and you know what he’ll do again? He’ll sweep all of Galatasaray’s problems under the rug.

“That’s the kind of guy Osimhen is—he didn’t show you that you’ve built a flawed squad. Got it?

“With the goals he scored, the performances he delivered, the guy single-handedly carried how many matches—Osimhen took them all, crunching through every game.”

Bol believes Osimhen’s absence has provided a clearer picture of Galatasaray’s squad, with the team’s shortcomings becoming more apparent when the striker is unavailable.

“So people look and say: ‘Nah, our team’s good and all,’ and you see it, you think it. But in Osimhen’s absence, we’ve actually seen just how massive the gap in the team really is.”

Osimhen has been named in Nigeria’s latest squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, but it remains to be seen whether he will be released to the Nigeria Football Federation after being left out of Galatasaray’s squad for their trip to Trabzon.
