OMATSAYE ACCUSES GOVERNOR SHERIFF OBOREVWORI OF SUFFERING DELTA QUEENS PLAYERS

A Football Stakeholder resident in Warri Delta State, Comrade Omatsaye Andrew has accused Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of subjecting players of Delta Queens football club of Asaba to hardship following the inability of the state Government to pay two month salaries and four match bonuses arrears to the state owned female football club .

In a statement personally signed and released on Tuesday, the Omadino community born sports administrator wondered why the Governor has chosen not to pay players who worked so hard to win the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership title in June with an unbeatable record throughout the 2022/2023 season.

The statement appealed to Governor Sheriff to treat the Delta Queens players as worthy Ambassadors of the Delta State that deserved to be paid like other workers in the State.

Omatsaye also draws the Governor’s attention to the need to investigate the management of the clubs in the last four years under the supervision of the Chairman, Delta State Sports Commission, Tonobok Okowa .

The Sports stakeholder alleged that the players of Delta Queens were short-changed in their monthly payment and often not accorded the professional attention the players deserved when signing agreement with the management of the state club.

He addded that the Governor should consider a competent hand who understands sports administration to be appointed for the position of the Chairman, Delta State Sports Commission in the more agenda administration of the Peoples Democratic Party .

The release attributed the league defending champions slow start of the season to the poor welfare for the Delta Queens players including Wednesday’s one one draw at home against Fc Robo football club of Lagos at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba the State capital
