Okpoama Chiefs Back Diri’s Bold Nembe-Brass Road Push, Urge Faster Federal Delivery

The Okpoama Kingdom Council of Chiefs in Brass Local Government Area has thrown its weight behind Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, for what they described as his “courageous and fair-minded leadership” in taking on the ambitious Nembe-Brass Road project across swampy mangrove terrain.

In a communiqué signed by Chairman, High Chief Nathan Egba-Dienagha, and Secretary, Chief Inenyo Yousuo-Ogbulu, at the end of the Council’s second scheduled meeting of 2025, the Chiefs praised the initiative as pivotal to unlocking new frontiers of development in the coastal region.

The Council also extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the second phase of the Nembe-Brass Road, which is being handled by All Infrastructure Limited. The Chiefs urged the construction firm to expedite work to ensure timely delivery of the Federal Government’s section of the project.

Beyond road infrastructure, the Council expressed gratitude to Governor Diri for the renovation and upgrading of the Okpoama Mission Jetty, which they said had long posed a safety hazard to residents before the intervention.

While acknowledging the progress, the Chiefs appealed to the people of Okpoama Kingdom to remain patient and steadfast, assuring them that lingering challenges facing the community would soon be resolved.

The Nembe-Brass Road, often described as one of the toughest infrastructure undertakings in the Niger Delta, is expected to boost trade, ease movement, and accelerate development in Bayelsa’s coastal communities once completed.
