OBIO-AKPOR PDP WARD LEADERS BACK GOVERNOR FUBARA ON RIVERS STATE POLITICAL CRISIS
Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in the seventeen wards of Obio-Akor Local Government Areas of Rivers State have declared total support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the political crisis heightens in Rivers State.
At a formal meeting in Rukpokwu Community in the Rivers State Capital, Youth Leader and convener of the crucial meeting, Chijioke Ihunwo announced the following resolutions as the position of Obio-Akpor people in a communique he personally signed along the immediate Past Executive Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government, Honourable Solomon Abel Eke and other wards leaders .
The communiques read as follows .
- That the leaders of Obio Akpor Local Government Area condemn the attack on the Executive Governor of Rivers State His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS by the security operatives and the attempt by some disgruntled undemocratic elements in the name of Rivers State House Assembly to impeach the Governor.

To support the Rivers State Governor in thick and thin, come rain and sunshine.

That the Rivers State Governor has not failed Rivers people and Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in particular and as a result, Obio/Akpor people will continue to support the Governor.

That Obio/Akpor leaders congratulate Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS on his well-deserved victory at the Court of Appeal and his detractors to stop forthwith.

We congratulate Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, the speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly on his emergency as the Speaker of the Rivers State House Assembly and condemn the attack on him and his family by Nigeria Police.

We advise Nigeria Police to be professional in their conduct and remain neutral in all they do.
In a post meeting interview with Honourable Solomon Abel Eke, the former Obio-Akor council boss described the Obio-Akpor people as detribalized citizens of Rivers State who had resolved to support an Ijaw Governor after Ikwerre ethnic group ruled Rivers State for about sixteen years.
According to the former Chairman Solomon Eke, the twenty five seats recently declared vacant will stand and the directive of the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party for a fresh election to be conducted will be respected in Rivers State.
Former councillors and community leaders in Obio-Akor Local Government Area were among those that attended the meeting.
