NPFL: REMO STARS PIP BAYELSA UNITED AWAY AS ENYIMBA THRASH AKWA UNITED

 

Matchday 3 of the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL rounded up on Sunday with seven games played across seven venues.

A total of 15 goals was scored on Sunday with Remo Stars as the only club to win away from home as two games ended goalless.

At the Enyimba international Stadium, champions, Enyimba defeated Akwa United 3-2 in a thrilling encounter.

 

The game was Fatai Osho’s first trip to Aba after he left Enyimba last two season as the People’s Elephant took the lead through Innocent Gabriel in the 12th minute.

Enyimba seems to be running away with a clean sheet when Chijioke Mbaoma doubled the hosts lead three minutes later.

However, Akwa United rallied back through Kufre Ebong who scored to reduce the deficit before the first half break.

In the 67th minute, the Promise Keepers levelled through David Philip who curled in a free kick.

Somiari Alalibo gave the host the winning goal two minutes to end of the game.

At the Samson Siasia Stadium, Remo was to hot for hosts, Bayelsa United as they recorded a 2-1 in Yenagoa.

The Sky Blue took the lead through Adams Olamilekan after he was set up by Samuel Anakwe just four minutes of Play.

Sikiri Alimi then came off the bench to double the lead in the 78th minute.

Ekeson Okorie reduced the deficit for Bayelsa United with two minutes to end of regular time as Bayelsa United have now loss two consecutive games.

At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Kwara United put up a spirited fight as they share the spoils with Rivers United in a goalless draw.

Shooting Stars bounced back and got their second win of the season at the Lekan Salami Stadium following a 2-1 win against visiting Gombe United .

Gombe United took the lead in the 10th minute through Aliko Bala.

However, Captain Malomo Taofeek lived u to get expectations as he scored a brace in the second half to ensure theu got the three points.

Newly promoted Sporting Lagos could not give their supporter something to cheer about as they were held to a goalless draw by visiting Doma United.

At the Cathedral in Enugu, Rangers International defeated visiting Niger Tornadoes 2-1 to move to second place in the NPFL tables.
