A Non Governmental organisation, Girls In Tech Initiatives Bayelsa has launched a sensitisation campaign tagged “Tech&Tea” to encourage participation of the girl child in tech, building of digital skills and creating new income streams.
The founder of the Girls In Tech Initiatives Bayelsa, Miss Teresa Briseimo, while speaking during the Tech&Tea interactive and training session held in Yenagoa, said that the involvement of the girl child in tech does not require proficiency in mathematics but demand curiosity, branding, proper packaging and power of the mind.
Miss Briseimo, who is also a web designer and a tech expert, said the ‘Tech&Tea” initiative is to introduce and educate young girls and ladies in tech and let them know that tech is not only for the boys but ” it is for everybody in respective of gender.”
She pointed out that the Girls In Tech Initiatives Bayelsa, will soon take the campaign for girl child involvement in Tech to secondary schools in the state with a message that Tech is simply the tool that helps you work smarter, earn better, and stay relevant in a fast-moving world.
” From building digital skills to creating new income streams, tech is the engine that can push you far ahead in 2026 and beyond.”
Also speaking at the event, Mr Ekemini Udo, a Business Development and Sales Strategists, SA to the group president Azikel Group encouraged the participants to embrace tech and adopt the principles of loyalty, dedication and exceptional services, “join a community of tech experts and develop the life of excellence”
The State Commissioner for Youths, Hon. Alfred Kemepadei, also urged the participants to seek out mentors and embrace guidance and training in tech.
Also speaking, the founder of the Do Foundation and President of the National Association of Women Against Gender based Violence, Dr. Dise Ogbise Goddy Harry, commended the organiser of the event and urges the participants to stay focused on the issue of girl child involvement in tech as it will improve capacity and provide upliftment.
