NDC WILL NOT BE PART OF ANY COALITION, OBI IS GOING INTO 2027 AS A STRONG CANDIDATE
The message from His Excellency, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, is clear, bold and decisive: the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is not going into the 2027 presidential election as a junior partner in somebody else’s political arrangement.
According to Senator Dickson, NDC will not be part of any coalition. If other political parties, movements or candidates choose to support NDC and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, they are welcome. But NDC will not surrender its identity, principles or political platform in the name of coalition politics.
That position deserves serious attention.
There is a difference between building alliances from a position of strength and entering a coalition because you lack confidence in your own platform. NDC’s message is that it believes in its candidate, believes in its structure and believes that Nigerians are ready for a credible alternative in 2027.
And at the centre of that alternative is Peter Obi.
Obi is not entering the 2027 election as an unknown quantity. He has already demonstrated significant national appeal, particularly among young Nigerians and citizens demanding greater accountability, competence and responsible leadership.
The task ahead, therefore, is not to spend all our energy chasing every political arrangement in Abuja. The task is to build a formidable grassroots structure, mobilise voters, protect the ballot and communicate a compelling national vision to Nigerians.
If other parties and candidates believe in that vision and decide to support NDC, the door is open. But support is different from surrendering the party’s identity.
This is where Senator Dickson’s statement becomes particularly significant. Politics is ultimately about conviction, organisation and the ability to mobilise people around a shared vision.
NDC must therefore take its message directly to the people.
From the Niger Delta to the North, from the South-West to the South-East, from our cities to our rural communities, Nigerians should hear what NDC represents and why the 2027 election presents an opportunity to demand something better.
NDC has a candidate. NDC has a platform. NDC has a message. And NDC is prepared to stand before Nigerians on its own merit.
If others want to join the journey, they are welcome.
But make no mistake: Peter Obi is going into 2027 as a strong candidate, and NDC is going into the election with conviction.
The era of waiting for political validation from others is over.
